Table Talk : Let’s Get it on the Table

I’m so excited to announce my new video series – Table Talk! My friends, family, etc. come to me and ask for the secret to entertaining successfully at home, so this series is a way to address this. Everything is easier when we discuss it so let’s get it out on the table.  Everyone has their own personality. Some love to entertain, some dread it and some have evolved, like me. It is like riding a bike – learning is hard and you will make mistakes but then you take off and just go. This series is a way for all of us to start a discussion, it’s something we can do as a community to support each other and enhance all of our experiences.

What do you consider entertaining at home? It’s not a trick question; each of us has a different interpretation of the term. To some, it comes naturally but to most of us, it’s a learned trait. We observe our parents, friends etc., when we are young and see how things are done.

Every time we entertain you will learn something. This something is either something to do to enhance the experience or something to avoid. You will learn how to handle guests, how to invite, juggle the table setting, cooking and then the clean up while guests are mingling about, along with lot’s more. At first I looked at the annoyances as negative but I have evolved to welcome this as much as the positive experiences and learn from them.

Whether you love to entertain and do it frequently or if the thought of others coming into your home frightens you to death, this video series is designed to address some of the curveballs thrown to you. You will have your own experiences, survive them and come out more knowledgeable for it. After all, that is how we learn.

I hope you are as excited about this as I am!

Now I need your help – go below in the comment section and tell me what you would like to talk about. Is it a guest who drinks too much? Is it someone who shows up with friends in tow that you didn’t account for? Someone who doesn’t RSVP but shows up anyway? Does Menu planning or your cooking skills keep you from attempting a dinner party? I want to hear about it and start the discussion. Remember, these issues may be uncomfortable now but once we get it on the table it will become easier and you will be inspired. I promise.

And don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel!

Monica, I love that you are beginning this series. I grew up in a house that entertained on a regular basis. It has been such a long time since I have had more than a few people over for dinner though. I guess a question I would have is how to do plan a meal for a group when you know there are those with food sensitivities and allergies?

This series is so great to take the “scary” out of entertaining. The hardest thing for me is to have things in the oven and still be the hostess. How do you get things to the table all at the same time but still enjoy your company without being “a mad woman in the kitchen” when guests arrive!?
