Mom’s Plain Cake #SundaySupper
  • 1 ½ Cups Sugar
  • 2 ¼ Cups Flour
  • 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 Teaspoons Salt
  • ½ Cup Shortening
  • 1 Teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • Mom's Famous White Icing
  1. Sift sugar, flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Add shortening, vanilla and ⅔ cup of the milk. Beat for 2 minutes. Add the remaining milk and the eggs and beat 2 minutes longer. Pour batter into 2 well greased & floured 9” round pans. Bake bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the cakes from the oven and cool for 10 minutes then invert onto a cooling rack and remove the pan. Cool to room temperature.
  2. On a cake plate set one round flat side up and ice with ½ cup of Mom's Famous White Icing or any icing you desire. Place the second cake round over the icing and frost the cake as desired.
