Happy Table Talk Thursday, the first in this fall season. Susan’s question is great. She asks, “I do an okay job entertaining, but don’t feel confident about it. I’d like to become more comfortable with spontaneous entertaining.”
When it comes down to it, successful entertaining and entertaining with confidence both have a lot to do with how we approach it, how organized we are, and how kind we are to ourselves! Remember when you learned to ride a bike, you wobbled a bit, and then got really great at it? Entertaining is very similar to that. It’s about celebrating your successes, and not sweating the small stuff.
For 5 simple, practical tips I used when I was first beginning to entertain, and still use to this day, watch the video below.
Feel free to subscribe to my You Tube channel, and as always, send your questions about planning dinner parties, party themes, or preparing for the holidays. I look forward to connecting with you!
I love your tips, especially starting with a “no threat” situation like entertaining my girlfriends as “practice.” I’m now looking for a night to schedule my first girlfriend’s get together.
Confidence is definitely key to being the hostess with the mostest. And being calm, organized, sociable and a good cook are definitely up there too. Thanks for a great video
I think starting small is key. Just like you said – wine, appetizers, and girlfriends – sounds like a great gathering!
Great tips. I agree with the bike ride – we fall down, but we get up and keep going.
