What could be better on a cool afternoon than a cup of tea? I’m sharing with you one of my secret weapons to wellness in the cold and flu season – Norm’s Farm Elderberry Wellness Syrup or Elderberry Extract.
This is the time of year that I struggle with viruses. With the grandchildren in school, it seems that one of them is always coming home with some type of sniffle, bug or something. I suffered from Lyme disease this year as well, so I’m on the hunt for anything I can find to boost my immune system to ward off all of the germs floating around out there.

Now that it’s getting cold outside, I am going into hibernation mode. When there is a chill in the air, one of my favorite things to do is to curl up with a cup of tea. There is nothing better than coming home from work, putting on my comfy clothes and heading to the couch with my favorite blanket.
Fortunately, I found my favorite immune booster in Norm’s Farm Elderberry Wellness Syrup and Elderberry Extract. When I found the Elderberry Wellness Syrup I started to make tea with a teaspoon of the syrup, hot water and a lemon wedge. Like the bottle tells me; it is soothing relief. The syrup “combines the healing powers of elderberry, honey cloves and cinnamon.” I took it one step further and added some lemon.
Then I found the Elderberry Extract…
One of my go-to flavors is ginger with citrus. I started to play around with the flavors and came up with this Elderberry-Ginger syrup made with lemon and honey. It’s fantastic when added to hot water for a cup of tea. I then mixed ¼ cup with club soda for a sparkling refresher (if you add in some vodka I will never tell) . It makes a lovely mimosa, just add a tablespoon or two with a glass of champagne. It is the bomb made into iced tea!
Moving into the season it is so important to take care of ourselves. The Elderberry-Ginger syrup gives me the opportunity to make a healthy drink, no matter what the occasion is. In a pinch I use the Elderberry Wellness Syrup, either way they my favorites. I hope it will be one of yours too!
I am so grateful to find Norm’s Farms Elderberry products. This Elderberry-Ginger Syrup has become one of my go to immune boosters. There are so many uses for this syrup. Some of my favorite recipes are:
Hot Tea: add 1/4 Cup of Elderberry-Ginger syrup to 4 oz hot water and a slice of lemon.
Elderberry-Ginger Sparkler: Pour 1/4 Cup of Elderberry-Ginger syrup into a glass of ice, fill with sparkling water, stir, and garnish with a lemon slice (if you add a shot of Vodka, I’ll never tell).
Elderberry-Ginger Mimosa: Add 1-2 Tablespoons of the Elderberry-Ginger syrup to a glass of champagne, stir.
- 4 Cups of Water
- 4 Tablespoons of Honey, plus more to taste*
- 1 - 2 - 3" Knob of fresh Ginger, peeled and sliced
- 2 Lemons, Washed and Sliced
- ⅓ Cup of Elderberry Extract
- In a saucepan and bring the water and honey to a simmer until the honey is dissolved. Add the sliced ginger and lemon, turn off the heat and let the mixture seep in the saucepan until it cools to room temperature.
- Strain the mixture into a quart jar and refrigerate. The syrup will keep for 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
